|And I can't find you anywhere.

For a while now, we've had two cats living in our garage (we also have a house cat who never goes outside). One, Sweetiepie, is a stray; she's very tame and sticks around our yard. The other, we call her Coco, is semi-feral and does as she pleases. She showed up one day and had kittens (which we tamed and gave away, then had her spayed) in our yard, and she's hung around since. We cannot pick her up or even touch her, but she will eat the food we give her and consent to be closed in and sleep on a (heated) chair in our garage at night when it's cold.
It is very cold now, and snowy. And we haven't seen Coco since yesterday afternoon. As I said, she does as she pleases, but it's unusual for her not to come around by nighttime for food and her warm chair. As in, it's never happened before on a night this cold. I went around the area calling for her last night, but there was no sign of her. (I don't know if she'd even come to my calling ...) I don't know how far she roams; she's pretty cautious about cars, but I'm afraid she's either gotten hit, or that a coyote got her.
We have seen coyotes in our yard before; this afternoon when I was looking for her again, I found fairly fresh dog or coyote tracks in the snow. They must've been made no earlier than this morning, otherwise they would've been covered by the fresh snow. But if one was around this morning, there could easily have been one around last night ...
Even though she's not a friendly cat at all, I am fond of her, and not knowing what's become of her is painful. After following those tracks across the yard, I started crying, because I'm afraid she's gone forever, and I'll never know what happened.
I know she's wild, and we cannot control wild things. It's possible she just decided to move on, but I don't find it very likely. I just keeping hoping I'll go outside and find her there.
But winter is a bad time for cats.
(Also, I had a birthday this past week. Ha, it means less and less every year ...)
EDIT: So, not TEN MINUTES after writing all this, I go outside to check on Sweetiepie because it's cold and dark, and guess what? Coco's in her chair like she's been there forever. I started crying again. And then I was so happy I tried to pet her, which of course made her jump away xD Silly cat, but I'm so glad she's OK.
